Iceland, Three

$130.00

Iceland, Three is the third book in a series of books about Iceland and part of an archiving project that began in September 2023 during a residency at Hafnarborg Center for Art and Culture in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland. When complete, there will be seven books in the series, one for each unique experience I have had in Iceland.

The 182-page book includes 68 images, plus five images of the work I made at the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós, the SÍM Residency in Reykjavík, and at the Veður og Vindur Gallery, also in Reykjavík. Covering my time in Iceland during the winter of 2015, images include places, buildings, winter light, shadows, and snow and ice in many forms. During this time I also visited close-by places, keeping travel local because of the weather, including Þingvellir National Park, a tannery in Sauðárkrókur, and a snowy drive through Vatnsdalur to see places in the Vatnsdæla Saga. Also included is a one-page essay at the beginning and a list of images in the back.

The pastel, softcover book was inspired by a series of Icelandic Sagas at the library in Skagaströnd, Iceland from my 2013 Nes Residency. Designed and independently published by me.
