The Sea for My Birthday
I spent April, May, and June of 2014 in Reykjavík, Iceland at the SÍM Residency. For my birthday month, the month of May, I took a picture of the sea every day. I stood on a big rock across the street from the residency, placed my left foot in a grove that fit it perfectly, and held the camera so that the image would be made of half sky and half sea. It didn’t matter what time of day I took these pictures, I just had to take one. The Sea for My Birthday includes these images, one by one in chronological order, along with the date and time. I did miss a few days when I went on a trip the weekend of my birthday and on two other day trips; these missed days are represented by blank pages. Designed and independently published by me.
